When it comes to reading PDF files on your Windows device, there are quite a few solutions available. However, the default remains the built-in Reader app from Microsoft itself.
The app has been updated countless times since it’s been available in the Windows Store. Recently, I’ve been prompted to download yet another update. So, out of curiosity, I wanted to check out what exactly this new update is doing and the app’s actual rating.
Microsoft’s default Reader app for Windows 10 still needs improvements
To my big surprise, I discovered the app still had the same changelog: “This version has been updated to improve reliability and to address data loss issues.” This is the same changelog from like 2 years back so this means either the product doesn’t need improvements (which is highly unlikely) or that someone at Microsoft is just ignorant about this product. We at Windows Report are leaning towards the latter since the app has a terrible reputation on the Windows Store. See for yourself in the screenshot from below:
The app has a 3 out of 5 rating from more than 10,000 votes. With so many, various complaints coming from users, it’s obvious Microsoft needs to do a much better job with the app.
