Such accounts hold troves of information, from financial and health data to personally identifiable information (PII), which threat actors can steal and sell on the black market.
While Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) has several antimalware and anti-phishing features, it’s getting more soon.
New Office 365 ATP anti-phishing, antimalware features
A recent Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry describes several Office 365 ATP security features that are currently in the works. They should be rolling out over Q3 2020.
For starters, the platform’s Threat Explorer is getting spam verdict. Not only does this capability sniff out email-borne threats, but it also lets you identify each threat by type.
Particularly, the feature categorizes threats into three: Malware, Phish, and Spam.
Office 365 ATP is also getting Threat Type Filter, which you’ll be able to use in All Email View. That can be handy, especially if it makes it easier for you to spot and get rid of malware-infested emails.
In addition, Microsoft is working on a way to expose malware-infested web addresses. This enhancement should help flag phish, malware, or spam URLs.
Addition of spam verdict within Threat Explorer, so that going forward you will be able to identify if a particular email was Malware, Phish or Spam. Introducing Threat Type Filter for All Email View, so that you can directly go to All-Email view and filter out the malicious emails.
Since threat actors sometimes hide their payload in URLs and links, this feature helps a great deal when it comes to enhancing Office 365 security.
Hackers determined to steal Microsoft 365 user credentials have been increasingly sending phishing emails to Office 365 users. Therefore, the new ATP security enhancements couldn’t come sooner.
