Microsoft has recently begun to add blur effects to the company’s first-party apps, including Groove Music, View 3D, Movies & TV, and the People app, a change inspired by the Project NEON aesthetic. For those of you unfamiliar, Project NEON is the upcoming UI upgrade for Windows 10 expected to arrive with Redstone 3.

New Project NEON in Windows Maps

The latest update for Windows Maps adds more blur to the app’s title bar and looks pretty handsome. On Mobile, the Windows Maps app includes blur in the menu at the bottom, for its dropdown, and in the settings app.

The new update, version 5.1705.1162.0, doesn’t seem to be yet available for all Windows Insiders but odds are Microsoft will it out gradually.

More updates and upcoming experiences

Microsoft’s recently released Windows 10 Insider build for Windows Insiders also includes My People, a new experience in Windows 10 initially expected to arrive alongside the recently launched Creators Update. Instead, it seems that it will come with the Redstone 3 update later this year.

Project NEON is definitely going to be the main focus of Build 2017 and Windows 10 Redstone 3 unless Microsoft is planning something bigger for Redstone 3 that we don’t yet know about.
