As expected, the computers of the future will have a faster processing power than today’s systems. Processor are constantly evolving, becoming capable of handling extreme computing tasks. One of the best processors of the moment is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821, which is 10% faster than its predecessor Snapdragon 820.

The Snapdragon 821 is actually similar to the Snapdragon 820, as it incorporates a lot of the technology used by the the 820. For example, one common element is the 600 Mbps X12 LTE modem which can be found on both processors.

The secret behing Snapdragon’s superiority is its clock speed of 2.4GHz. Qualcomms’ Snapdragon 820 can reach a maximum clock speed of 2.15GHz.

Building on the technology leadership introduced with the Snapdragon 820 platform, the 821 is engineered to deliver faster speed, improved power savings, and greater application performance, ensuring 821 powered devices keep pace with the growing performance demands of users to deliver the unmatched user experiences the Snapdragon 800 tier is known for.

Naturally, the Snapdragon 821 will be used in state-of-the-art technologies, such as drones, robots or virtual reality headsets, and smartphones as well. Actually, the Snapdragon 821 will help manufacturers to set a new bar for smartphones, tablets, VR headsets and other devices, allowing them to design extremely powerful devices.

The Snapdragon 821 is engineered to deliver a 10% performance increase over the 820 with the Qualcomm Kryo quad-core CPU, reaching speeds up to 2.4GHz. Why would you introduce something to replace what many consider the best mobile processor available today? Simple, we’re not. Rather than replace the Snapdragon 820, the 821 is designed to complement and extend the competitive strengths of our Snapdragon 800 lineup.

Qualcomm confirmed that commercial devices powered by the Snapdragon 821 should land on the market in the second half of 2016, but didn’t reveal which devices would be equipped with this processor.
