About the Template

This template is set by many people to the extent possible by them, along with formulas that automatically populate the rent receipt. It reduces the repetition of work for every new rent receipt issued.

Elements

Following are the details of different natures that are generally present in the rent receipt template:

#1 – Heading

One must give the heading rent receipt at the top area of the rent receipt so that there is a clear understanding to the template user that it pertains to the rent receipt. This template heading will remain intact for every receipt and will not change with every such receipt.

Under this field, the amount to be received from the tenant is mentioned in the numbers. Since the column contains an amount to be received from the party, it will change for all the new rent receipts issued by the person.

#7 – Amount in Words

Under this field, one shall enter the amount to receive from the tenant in words. Since the column contains the amount to be received from the party, it will change for all the new rent receipts issued by the person.

#8 – Period from and Period to

Under this field, the issuer has to enter the period for which the rent becomes due, i.e., he will enter the “period from” and ” period to.” Therefore, it will change for every rent receipt issued by the person.

#9 – Account Details

This field contains the details of the payment from the tenant. It will include the total due amount from the tenant and the total amounts paid against the unpaid amount. After entering the balance of the details, the due from the tenant will automatically calculate using the formulas inserted in the template. So, this figure will give the balance outstanding.

#10 – Payment Mode

Under this field, the details of the payment mode that the tenant used for making the payment is mentioned. For example, if payment is in cash, it will mention the amount in the column next to cash. #11 – Stamp

One will affix any stamp required in the template before being given to the tenant.

The last field of the template mentions the signature and name of the person who took the payment. It will enable tracking of the person who received the amount, which will be helpful in case any dispute arises.

How to Use Rent Receipt Template?

  • The person issuing the rent receipt will be required to enter details in all the fields that are not pre-filled. So, the date of issue of the receipt, receipt number, tenant name, amount in words and number, total due amount, the total amount paid, the period from and period to, i.e., the period to which the rent receipt belongs, and requires to insert the mode of payment.Lastly, the stamp has to be affixed along with the signature and name of the person issuing the same.
