The fall 2019 gaming season is coming, and every time players seem to be facing the same old issues.
This article features some of the most common issues related to game launches, as reported by the Xbox community.
More so, each issue is paired with a handy workaround which can be extremely useful if you run into any of these problems.
All games
- Players have their pre-orders cancelled if they did not have a a valid payment instrument on their account when charged
Pre-orders on any game become available 10 days before their launch.
As such, you need to have a valid payment option associated with your account at least 10 days before the game’s launch.
If your first billing attempt fails, another one will be made several days later. If this one fails too, the pre-order will be cancelled for good.

- If you purchase a 5×5 for a game or an add-on for a game at a retailer, the code redeems CSV to the Microsoft Account and does not grant access to the actual game or game add-on.
Purchasing a digital code from a retailer doesn’t actually give you access to that content.
However, it gives digital currency enough for you to buy that content from the Microsoft Store digitally.
However, these do not cover local sales taxes, so buying additional gift cards may be required.
NBA2K20
- You are not receiving your Legend Edition content after pre-ordering and purchasing NBA2K20: Legend Edition
Usually it may take up to 24 hours for the content to be redeemed to your account. If that doesn’t happen, contact 2K Support with proof of your purchase.
- Some purchases may not be showing up in your account’s balance
Usually it may take up to 24 hours for the content to be redeemed to your account.
Don’t try purchasing again within that window or you might end up with a duplicate purchase.
If that doesn’t happen, contact 2K Support with proof of your purchase.
Gears 5
- You can’t see your DLC content within the game
Try restarting the game. More so, DLC content doesn’t appear in Manage Game.
Instead, you have to access the Customization menu within the game
- Users get disconnected from multiplayer or co-op matches
There are no known workarounds for this issue, but you can follow the game developer’s Twitter feed for more updates on the matter.
- You can’t download the game through the Microsoft Store App
Make sure your PC meets the game’s minimum requirements.
If it does and the install game button is still unavailable, try updating your OS to the latest version.
Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition
- You can’t access the Definitive Edition content for Killer Instinct on PC through Game Pass for PC or Game Pass Ultimate

Be sure to fully quit out of the game from the Guide menu when you are done.
To do this press the Guide button on your controller and select the game you are playing the 10-hour trial for from your recently played list.
Press the Menu button, then Highlight Quit and press the A button.
Madden NFL 20
- You have issues trying to access or play Madden NFL 20 Ultimate Team.
Keep your game updated to the latest available version.
Apex Legends
- You don’t see your latest Apex coins purchases in your in-game wallet
Usually it take a few minutes for the content to be redeemed to your account. If that doesn’t happen, wait up to an hour, and if that doesn’t happen either, completely shut down the game and restart it again.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Your purchased Gold Bars not arriving in the Red Dead Online Beta
You can only have as much as 500 Gold Bars at a time.
Any stacks that would go over the limit when added will be kept as a reserve.
They will only become available once the Gold Bars already owned are used.
Metro: Exodus
- You’re getting an unspecified error signing into Xbox Live in Metro: Exodus
Keep your game updated with the latest available patch.
More so, if you’re using an NVidia graphics card, try updating the driver as well.
Naruto To Boruto: Shinobi Striker
- You can’t continue your trial save data after playing the full game for the Xbox Free Plays Days promotion
If you have the save data, you can continue where you left during the Xbox Free Play Days.
However, you must purchase the full game to continue any further after Xbox Free Play Days are over.
Additionally, if you participate in Xbox Free Play Days but want to continue playing the Trial Version, you must delete your save data and start a new save file all over again.
Football Manager 2019
- You encounter a missing DLL error when trying to launch Football Manager 2019
Get the latest update for Football Manager 2019 through the Microsoft app Store
Wasteland 2
- Your Save Files aren’t working anymore after a new version of the game was added to the Windows store
Your current save file is still usable if you still have the old version of the game installed.
But if you download the latest version of Wasteland 2, you’ll need to create a whole new save file.
