Samsung Apologizes For Advising Users Against Installing Windows 10

To upgrade or not to upgrade: this is the question. In this debate, Microsoft is most certainly in the yes camp, taking every chance it gets to promote the many great features and improvements in Windows 10. On the other hand, maligned users refuse to upgrade mainly because they feel the tech giant is forcing them to upgrade against their will.

Still others suggest delaying the upgrade process because their hardware and drivers were not designed for Windows 10, while others strongly advise against installing Windows 10 on their laptops and PCs — only to change their stance afterward.

Samsung was the first manufacturer to overtly advise against upgrading to Microsoft’s latest OS. The statement was actually made by a customer support representative replying to a Samsung customer who complained his wireless card did not work properly after upgrading to Windows 10:

The answer provided by the customer support representative was not a diplomatic one, and Samsung soon contacted The Register to apologize for the incorrect information:

Honestly speaking, we don’t suggest installation of Windows 10 to any Samsung laptop or PC and we are still coordinating with Microsoft regarding to this matter.

The Drivers that we have on our website are not yet compatible to the latest version of Windows. What we usually recommend is to keep the current Windows version and we’ll update you once the Windows 10 have no more issues on any Samsung laptops and computers or even monitors.

However, if you check the information on Samsung’s website, you’ll see that not all the listed computer models accept the upgrade to Windows 10.

We apologise for any confusion caused by a recent incident where a customer service representative mistakenly provided incorrect information about Windows 10 upgrades for Samsung notebooks.
