While the Galaxy Tab Pro S was Samsung’s first stab at a 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet, the hybrid device lacked any impressive performance. At this year’s Mobile World Congress, the Korean tech giant introduced two new Windows 10 hybrid tablets aimed at filling the hole left by the Galaxy Tab Pro S’ performance.
With their slim and aluminum designs, the Windows 10-based Galaxy Book 10 and Galaxy Book 12 both ship with stylus pens and keyboard cases. Microsoft said in a blog announcing the new Galaxy Books:
The Book 10 in particular sports a 10.6-inch, 1920 x 1280 pixel LCD display while the Book 12 shows off a 12-inch Super AMOLED HDR display. The higher-end Book 12 also boasts a better camera to complement its fanless Intel Core i5 processor and impressive screen. Intel’s Core m3 processor powers the Book 10. Both tablets include two USB Type-C ports and fast charging features. The Book 10 and 12 hybrids can last for up to 10 hours of battery life.
Built with Windows 10, the Samsung Galaxy Book weighs less than two pounds and provides easy access to the full desktop Microsoft Office experience in an ultra-portable 2-in-1 design that delivers unmatched productivity for the professional on-the-go. The 12-inch touchscreen enables you to easily use Windows Ink or markup and draw on websites in Microsoft Edge, and the S Pen is equipped with the tilt SDK for Windows Ink, providing artists with advanced shading and brushstrokes. The Galaxy Book also allows you to use your voice to talk to Cortana, your personal digital assistant, comes with a 7th generation Intel Core processor and provides up to 10 hours of battery life.
Samsung Galaxy Book’s keyboard case has significantly improved from the Tab Pro S courtesy of enhanced key travel, island-style keycaps, and backlighting. The S Pen supports more than 4,000 levels of pressure sensitivity and includes a rubber 0.7mm tip. However, you may not want to lose sight on it as there’s no mount in the hybrids where you can keep the S Pen when not in use.
It remains unclear when Samsung plans to release either Book model. Are you eager to get your hands on the Galaxy Book 10 and Book 12? Let us know!
